Roy Earl "Rox" Newton age 73 of Smyrna, passed away Monday, September 2nd.  Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday, September 5th at Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Rev. Joey Hatchell officiating.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta.  Mr. Newton had been a resident of Smyrna for 27 years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #160.  Surviving are:  Son, Michael Craig (Lorra) Newton of Carrollton, Daughter - Corissa (John) Gaulin of Villa Rica, Sister - Diane Martin of Lawrenceville, 3 Grandchildren - Cheyenne Newton, Kayla Newton, Halie Vaughan, His Life Partner - Frances Hesselgrave of Smyrna.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd.l, Ste. 280, Kennesaw, GA 30144.  The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm Wednesday, September 4th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna (770)435-4467. www.carmichaelfuneralhomes.com.
