Gail O’Neal Bassett, age 83, of Stockbridge, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024. She did so peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 25, 1940, in East Point, Georgia, the daughter of the late Howell Edward O’Neal and Lucile Gwendolyn Kirbow O’Neal. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Carole O’Neal Burdette.

Gail loved God, followed Jesus, and loved those around her unconditionally. She always maintained a warm, inviting home, filled with laughter. She was a mom to many and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom she cultivated strong relationships.

Gail leaves behind her children, son Jeff (Leslie) West, daughter Beth Goss, daughter Lori (Philip) Jones; grandchildren, Cameron (Brenda) Goss, Brandon (Dina) Goss, Austin (Marleigh) Goss, Alex (Jess) Goss, Ansley (Shalon) Jackson, Jared (Kaitlen) Jones, Olivia (Jonathan) Walker, Jenna (Hunter) East; great-grandchildren, Emery Goss, Mason Goss, Brayden Goss, Nia Jackson, Everleigh Walker, Ridley Goss, Raeleigh Walker, Reid O’Neil, Amara Goss, Theo Goss, Jensen Goss, Reagan Goss, Eliza Walker, Hendrixx Jackson, and; brother, Robert (Sylvia) O’Neal; as well as several extended family members and friends.

A service to honor Gail’s life will take place on Friday, February 9, 2024, beginning 11:00 AM in the East Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Rev. Glenn Anderson will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will follow the service at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia.
