Lamar Brown
April 24, 1940 - January 01, 2018
Lamar Wesley Brown passed away quietly at his home on Monday, January 1, 2018. Lamar was born in 1940 in East Point, Georgia to the late Errol Arthur and Helen Ruth Fretwell Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Brown. He was the second oldest of six children and graduated from Russell High School in 1958.
He was a long-time supervisor at Forward Air Corporation, an avid fisherman, and a talented and passionate golfer. Most impressive, perhaps, were his gifts as a story teller and his ability to never meet a stranger. Lamar married the love of his life, Shirley, in 1975. Together they raised a family of 3 children and 5 grandchildren, who learned everything they need to know about a successful, loving relationship by watching Lamar and Shirley through the years.
Lamar is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Brown; children, Ronnie Brown and wife Holly Yeagle of Atlanta, Robbie and Melisa Duncan of Mansfield, TX, Troy and Amy Duncan of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Alison, Hannah, Kailey, Ethan and Kendall; sisters, Shirley Brown Ramsey and Barbara Brown Langston of Fayetteville, GA, Brenda Brown Nation of Brooks, GA and brother, Robert Brown of Brooks, GA.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Glen Haven Baptist Church with Reverend Stan Berrong and Reverend Ralph Easterwood officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannonclevelandfunerals.com.
