Obituary

December 4, 1939 - January 26, 2015

Mrs. Sandra Alice (Stallings) Jones, age 75, of Draketown was born on Monday, December 4, 1939 in Macon, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Porter Stallings Sr. and the late Marie (Batson) Stallings. Besides her parents Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by one son Gary Lee Jones and one grandson Yugi Jamie Jones. Survivors include her husband Euwell Lee Jones Jr. of Draketown; One son, Peter Michael Jones of Austin, Texas; Two daughters, Jennifer Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Sarah Elizabeth Jones of Draketown; One brother and sister-in-law, Henry Porter and Shirley Stallings of Hiwassee, Georgia; One Sister, Melanie Anne Stallings of Cloudland, Georgia; Three grandsons, Oliver and Noah Jones of Covington, Louisiana and Ryota Matthew Jones of Japan; Two nieces and one nephew-in-law, Robyn and Garrison Elder of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Michelle Stallings Honnick of Hiwassee, Georgia; One Nephew, Scot Henderson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; One great-niece, Georgia Grace Elder of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; One great-nephew, Stallings Elder of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; and a number of other relatives. Mrs. Jones and her husband both served as Missionaries in Hiroshima, Japan for 26 years during which time they opened 3 churches. Mrs. Jones enjoyed singing opera and could sing in both the Italian and Spanish languages and could speak fluently in the French and Japanese languages as well. Besides singing Mrs. Jones could also play the piano, the organ, the autoharp and the Japanese harp “Koto” and was featured on national television playing the Japanese harp during the Asian Games in Japan. She enjoyed painting, cross stitching, and loved reading and wrote many stories and articles, some published. She never raised her voice, was kind to all, and was truly a lady in every sense of the word. Mrs. Jones was also a member of Miller Academy Christian Church in Bremen. Visitation will be held at Liberty Christian Church on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be conducted on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 2pm from Liberty Christian Church with Brother Dennis Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a love offering may be donated to assist in the final expenses. Hutcheson Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
